GDPR

In an increasingly data-driven world, keeping personal data private is becoming more difficult. A European Union (EU) regulation called the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) took effect on 25 May 2018 and is having a far-reaching impact on how business is conducted worldwide with respect to the collection and use of personal data.

IEEE is a global organization that serves its volunteers, members, customers, and the public and is committed to respecting the privacy of individuals as well as keeping their personal data secure. Among the steps IEEE has taken to comply with GDPR is the formation of a cross-organizational task force that is working to ensure consistency in how volunteers, members, and professional team members worldwide collect and use personal data.
