The 2020 IEEE International Conference on Image Processing (ICIP), one of Signal Processing Society’s annual flagship events, was a virtual event in October 2020 with support by MCE Audience Development. While the transition to virtual was unexpected like so many IEEE events have experienced this year, the team was able to identify opportunities for growth in attendance from all over the world.

An essential component for success throughout the promotion of ICIP 2020 was the strong and timely program offered, including notable keynote speakers, membership events and competitions, and networking opportunities. This solid foundation, along with the new convenience of attending from anywhere, and targeted multi-channel communications, enabled ICIP to attract more than 6,000 first-time attendees.

ICIP 2020 received exceptional results with 7,500+ registrants overall, exceeding their in-person attendance estimates by five times. Through MCE Audience Development and Signal Processing Society’s continued partnership, they are able to build upon achievements such as ICIP 2020 to increase awareness and attendance for conferences and IEEE as a whole.
